AIA Philippines has launched AIA Critical Protect Plus, a critical illness insurance plan that enables policyholders to claim up to three times for major illnesses.

The AIA Critical Protect Plus provides coverage for up to 106 conditions and allows for three major critical illness claims until age 100.

Life insurance company AIA Philippines launched its new health insurance plan, AIA Critical Protect Plus, on May 5.

The plan has a multi-pay structure that enables up to three major critical illness claims and benefits for early-stage conditions. Coverage extends up to age 100 and spans 106 critical conditions, expandable up to 146 with riders.

It includes optional riders for intensive care support and gender-specific cancers, as well as a premium waiver and a death benefit applicable after a major illness claim.

“As Filipinos live longer, the risk of facing critical illness more than once is no longer unlikely—it’s becoming a reality,” said Melita Teo, CEO of AIA Philippines, in a May 7 press statement. “AIA Critical Protect Plus…gives customers the flexibility and continued coverage they need across multiple diagnoses.”

AIA Philippines’ Rethink Healthy 2026 study yielded three key insights:

  • 70% of Filipinos now reject the “bahala na” (come what may) attitude regarding their physical health.
  • 62% of Filipinos say their health attitudes and choices are shaped by their family
  • 83% of Filipinos became more proactive about their health following a significant event like illness or job loss.

The new plan integrates with AIA Vitality, the company’s wellness program. Policyholders can boost their coverage up to 50% by engaging in healthy behaviors.

Frequently Asked Questions

AIA Critical Protect Plus is a multi-pay health insurance plan that provides coverage for up to 106 conditions until age 100. It uniquely allows for three major critical illness claims, includes benefits for early-stage conditions, and offers a death benefit even after a major illness claim has been made.

The multi-pay structure enables customers to claim 100% of the face amount for up to three separate major critical illness diagnoses. This design addresses the reality of long-term health risks, ensuring that coverage does not terminate after the first diagnosis, providing continued financial protection across multiple medical events.

Standard coverage spans 106 critical conditions, but policyholders can increase this to 146 conditions through optional riders. Available add-ons include specialized support for intensive care (ICU), coverage for gender-specific cancers, and premium waivers that keep the policy active without further payments following a major illness claim.

AIA Critical Protect Plus integrates with the AIA Vitality wellness program to reward healthy lifestyle choices. By participating in the program and completing health-related activities, policyholders can earn a coverage boost of up to 50%, effectively increasing their total protection as they improve their physical well-being.

The study revealed that 70% of Filipinos have moved away from a “bahala na” attitude toward health, becoming more proactive. It also found that 62% of health choices are shaped by family influences, while 83% of respondents increased their health focus following significant life events like illness.
