The World Oceans Day event is part of the cleanup efforts conducted by SM Cares.

SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, will hold its annual Coastal Cleanup Drive on June 7, 2025. The cleanup effort is in celebration of World Oceans Day, which is on June 8.

With the theme “WONDER: Sustaining What Sustains Us,” the Coastal Cleanup Drive is held in partnership with local government units (LGUs), environmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, SM employees, security and janitorial personnel, and affiliates.

On this day, cleanups will be held simultaneously in multiple coastal locations nationwide. The World Oceans Day event marks the first of three major coastal cleanups planned by SM Cares for the year.

“As part of our commitment to the environment, we believe in community action to protect our oceans and waterways,” said SM Cares Program Director for the Environment Engr. Liza Silerio. “Ultimately, we want to raise overall awareness on marine pollution, contribute to preserving biodiversity, and help in inspiring responsible waste management practices among Filipinos.”

“The World Oceans Day Coastal Cleanup is more than just a one-day event—it’s part of our ongoing pledge to build a better, cleaner world,” Engr. Silerio.
