STP Flea Market’s Anniversary Draws Thousands in Alabang
The prominent flea market in the southern enclave of Metro Manila, the South Trading Post (STP), recently celebrated its first anniversary.
Dubbed the “Southversary”, the event brought together more than 8,000 shoppers and patrons to the Town Plaza in Alabang Town Center.
Attendees browsed and shopped at the event, with over 50 brands with unique offerings such as vintage clothing, local apparel, anik-anik (knick-knacks), art, and vinyl records. Event goers also got a kick out of other activities such as a photo booth and offerings of tattoos and body piercings.
STP also went back to its core of sustainable fashion and held a one-day event across the street at Nook Coworking Studios in Molito Lifestyle Center entitled “Sustainability in the South” in collaboration with Basically Borrowed. Quirky patrons enjoyed a clothing swap party that aimed to help people refresh their closets sustainable and live screen printing. On the knowledge side, they attended a panel discussion on sustainable fashion with notable panelists such as Erv Saguiped, the vintage curator and owner of Karma Collective, and content creator Cheris Berries.
“Our Southversary event was created to commemorate the flourishing community that STP has nurtured over the past year. We don’t view Southversary as just a market—rather, we wanted to create a fun and social environment for everyone,” John Reyes, cofounder of STP, said.
“This event marks a commemorative weekend built after months of trying to figure out who we wanted to be as an organization and our growth throughout all the problems we’ve faced,” said Dime Ocampo, a member of the organizing team.
The celebration marked the STP’s largest event to date.
