Ride-hailing mobile app Grab Philippines announced on April 27 its P350 million support for drivers and delivery riders facing the recent rise of fuel costs.

The Grab Bayanihan Fuel Crisis Support Program launches initiatives to aid their drivers and riders, including expanded incentives, spot bonuses, and commission rebates.

The amount, according to Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda, is designed to ensure business continuity for transport partners facing macroeconomic pressures.

“When fuel prices rise, livelihoods are the first to feel it, and platforms like ours carry a responsibility to respond with the scale and speed that the moment requires,” he said in a press statement.

Fuel Subsidy Partnerships With Sea Oil Philippines And Shell 

Grab Philippines and its motorcycle taxi service MOVE IT have helped their drivers and riders save over P2 million on fuel via exclusive discounts from a partnership with fuel company Sea Oil Philippines. 

Grab Philippines has also extended fuel support through Shell Fleet Cards facilitated by Grab Financial Group (CFG), the company’s financial technology arm.

Rebates through the Shell Fleet Cards have reached P1 million, Grab Philippines reported.

Green Auto Loans Through The Eco Drive Initiative 

The ride-hailing company partnered with the following to provide drivers and riders fast-tracked access to electric and hybrid vehicles through the launch of its Eco-Drive Initiative:

  • financial institutions BPO and BPI; 
  • automakers Toyota, BYD, and GAC; and 
  • automotive distributors Autohub Group and QSJ Motors Philippines 

The initiative provides driver- and rider-partners preferential green auto loans, flexible daily repayments via the Grab Driver Wallet, and exclusive vehicle discounts.
